Rainbow Derp by yorik-CZ Rainbow Derp by yorik-CZ
I miss Derpy! :tears:

Another long lost sketch (8/6/2012).
Similar technique as last time, but this time with 100% more background (crappy background, but still... :))

Oh, would you look at that! My beloved "friend" with bad memory has just arrived.

Thanks! It didn't took half a year. 8/6/2012 is just the date, when I came up with this idea. C'mon, don't you have any useful feedback for me? What should I improve? (proportions, background...)

Awesome !
Wow I can't believe you uploaded something again! I have to admit,I like the composition of this one ^^ Also the mirror effect on the part where Derpy is sitting :D
The anatomy isn't bad ,but I think the body should be slightly bigger and the back legs should be just a bit more relaxed considering the pose... But as always,it's just me ^^'
I love it ^^ I would like to see more art like this from you :)

Thanks! :D
What do you mean, you can't believe I uploaded something? I'm uploading stuff all the time... almost once a month ;)

Yeah, chosing the right composition was pretty hard on this one. The mirror effect isn't really a mirror effect. The rainbow is just transparent, but I do agree that it does look like a reflection :)
Bigger body, you say? Maybe you're right  The anatomy they use in the show is usually pretty inconsistent though. I don't know about the relaxed legs. She's supposed to be holding herself there mainly with the help of her legs. I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

"more art like this" - Do you mean more pics in this technique, or just more "cute pictures"?

Also, before I forget,I like the wings too :) I never draw them in MLP style so they look pretty good to me :D

Thanks! I don't really like MLP:Fim style wings. They hardly resemble normal wings, but at least they are easier to draw :) (these ones are a bit different than those in the show). I still need to learn how to draw the normal ones...

Well use different pegasus and bird references and also check the anatomy (bones) of a wing. That's all I can advise you :)

That's exactly what I did. It didn't really help me much though :). I guess I'm gonna have to practice more...

I guess so :) Maybe you should do a solo-practice, only draw wings for a while until you get a hang of it?

I guess just drawing the wings using some reference wouldn't be that much of a problem. The main problem I have is that I need to figure out how to "cartoonize" the wings. (How much details should I put into it, should I draw every single feather, ...). I need to draw the wings in such a way so they would look realistic and at the same time, they would still fit to the simple MLP:FiM style.

Damn wings! They're complicated as hell. But you know that yourself :)

Oh come on, you know what I mean :) You uploaded 2-3 pics pretty recently :D
Hmmm not really sure about the anatomy,but I don't use the proportions from show anyways (yeah I was drawing ponies before Friendship is Magic came!). I usually just use my sense and some reference pictures, and then again, even reference pictures vary from one to other. So it really is hard to tell ^^;
By "more art like this", I meant how I like the idea overall, you did both background and character, and added a few effects plus it has some shading. I like the whole combination here :)

Yeah, well, I'm getting a bit faster. My old techniques took at least 10x more time than this one. Don't get too used to it though. I'm almost out of old sketches. :)

I know you were drawing ponies even before MLP:FiM (I was doing some spying on you, lol :ninja:). I'm using reference pics from the show, from other people and sometimes from real life photos. (you're right, each one usually looks completely different...)

So, you want more backgrounds, eh? I'll try to draw them more often, but probably not all the time. I hate drawing backgrounds! I think I'll probaly be using this style more in the future, but I will probably try even other techniques from time to time. I don't think this is my final form :meditate:

:) Well same about me pal,I hate doing backgrounds. The thing is, I am interested in creatures, poses ,movement. Not much of that in a background, right?
And yes, I would like to see this style more :)

Yeah, I also like better drawing just figures rather than background. Backgrounds are useful too though. It's important to know how to deal with perspective, how to draw various objects and stuff like that. The problem is that sometimes drawing background takes even more time than drawing the main focal point. I don't think we can avoid it. We're both gonna have to learn how to draw backgrounds sooner or later :)

OK, I'll see what I can do :)
